2026: On the Road May 13

Papa and Sandie came and picked me up for a ride today. They came in a car I had not seen before. This one is much roomier than his Escape.

Papa came into the Glengary home to get me and we walked out to his car and he opened the door for me to climb in. To may total amazement and joy, I saw my Sandie sitting in the back! In the past it has always been the two of them in the front and me, alone, in the back. Of course, I don’t have a way to tell people what I am thinking, but Papa says that he could see my joy instantly as the door was opened. Papa says that I usually dilly dally at this point as I figure out how I am going to seat myself in the car but this time, Papa says, that I climbed in without any hesitation.

Papa has always said that he likes cars with beefy motors and I could tell that Papa was showing off the beefy motor in this car because when he pulled the car out onto the main highway, I could hear the sound of a respectable motor and feel being pulled back a little in my seat. Papa says that where Earhart Road meets North Territorial it is riddled with blind spots and thus, he had to pull out fast but he wasn’t fooling me. He was showing off his beefy motor!

We did our usual trip to McDonalds and Papa bought some chicken nuggets, fries and a Diet Coke for me. Truth be told, I am fine with a Diet instead of a regular Coke but the advantage with a Diet Coke is in case of spillage. Papa probably doesn’t know it but these days I spill very little. But here is what is new with this trip: Sandie was with me in the back to coach me in eating habits. On earlier trips they have individually handed me chicken nuggets but this time Sandie simply plopped the nugget box in my lap! This is a sign, folks, that I am growing up. Papa was absolutely ecstatic to hear that I was dropping virtually nothing in my lap or the floor!

Another thing that was new with this trip was that Papa drove much more thorugh the country than in the past. He stopped at a country convience market, Edith’s, located at Pontiac Trail and North Territorial roads. He bought cookies for me!!! He didn’t buy as many cookies as shown above but enough to gain my attention. The store proprieter bakes his own cookies daily at thie market.

This was a VERY enjoyable trip for me and I look forward to more in the future.
